Litigation Experience

Jones Law Group, PLLC has a substantial background in litigation and is experienced in trial and arbitration practice, motion practice, mediation, appellate practice, and administrative law practice. In addition, we have experienced a high rate of success in settling cases.

Trial

Our trial and motion practice has included but is not limited to cases in Washington federal and state courts, Oregon federal and state courts, federal district courts in numerous jurisdictions as pro hac vice counsel, and bankruptcy court.

Dispute Resolution

We have arbitrated and/or mediated through a number of different services, including but not limited to state court mandatory arbitration, private arbitration services such as the American Arbitration Association, JAMS, and Judicial Dispute and Resolution LLC, and securities arbitration services such as the NASD.

Appeal

Our appellate practice has included state court appeals in Washington, Oregon, and California, the Washington and California Supreme Courts, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Administrative

Finally, we have assisted business owners or employers with federal and state administrative proceedings including but not limited to the Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Department of Labor, Department of Labor & Industries, Department of Revenue, Employment Security, and Department of Health and other agencies in either settlement or appeal.

In the previous 24-month period alone, we have:

  • assisted an employer through three U.S. Department of Labor audits
  • assisted an employer through an IRS audit
  • obtained a refund of all 941 penalties for a business and its owner
  • assisted a non-employer business owner through two state L&I audits
  • after heated litigation, extensive discovery and motions practice, negotiated the settlements of a major contract dispute between a manufacturer and distributor of goods and an employment dispute between a business owner and multiple claimants after arbitration
  • tried and ultimately settled a financing contract dispute
  • settled a repossession/claim for remainder due contract case
  • represented beneficiaries under an estate trust agreement through trial
  • represented multiple franchisees in a franchise/securities dispute through trial in federal court
  • settled a complex boundary line dispute, which included negotiations with multiple parties including unnamed third parties
  • settled an enforcement of a promissory note issued as a retirement benefit
  • won a judgment against Allstate Insurance for 130 times their last offer in an automobile rear-end case, for a long time business client.

  • satisfied a foreign judgment through foreclosure of real estate
  • settled a negligence and breach of contract claim against a major lending bank for failure to pay homeowner's insurance through mortgage
  • negotiated a settlement in a multiparty wage dispute
  • negotiated a settlement of a real property transfer dispute
  • litigated and/or settled multiple foreclosure actions on materialmen's liens
  • negotiated two partial satisfactions of judgments (one 8 years old and one 2 years old) through real property refinance deals
  • negotiated two stipulated judgments against third parties where the garnishee defendant was held jointly liable for full satisfaction of the judgments
  • litigated an agreed controversy to correct legal descriptions and quiet title on multiple parcels of property, with multiple grantors and grantees
  • settled a breach of contract (checking account) claim against a major bank
  • tried, obtained a judgment, and obtained satisfaction of judgment in monies due litigation, with defense of software/hardware warranty issues
  • successfully obtained dismissal by summary judgment of a home inspector in a negligence, breach of contract and fraudulent concealment case
  • negotiated settlement of commercial lease dispute against large company
